My social media feeds have been full of first day of school photos, final first days for graduating seniors, and far away first days for kids who left the nest to fly off to their new dorm — so many landmarks. For 1 out of 20 kids who will lose a parent in childhood, however, it’s one of the many landmarks that they’ll be forced to experience without Mom or Dad. It’s been 25 years now since we lost our Dad — an awful lot of landmarks we never had occasion to share.
But the silver lining to losing Dad is what was birthed from his death. Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids, founded in his name and memory, is dedicated to the mission of bringing tenderness to tragedy and turning tragedy into triumph for our community’s kids who have lost a parent. We’ve traveled that road with more than 2000 kids now. For them, Dad’s Foundation will always be a landmark in their budding success story.
So, in celebration of all those successes, landmarks, and silver linings over the last quarter century, we invite you to celebrate our 25th Anniversary Silver Lining Events with us. While you do have to pay to attend, these anniversary events promise to feel much more like a party than a fundraiser.
We’re honored to be joined by Event Chairpersons, Barbara & James Rossmann, and Special Golf Host, James Hoffa, at our two day anniversary event, beginning with a golf tournament, on Monday, September 24th, at the Wyndgate Golf Course, and continuing with our Anniversary Party, on Saturday, September 29th, at the M1 Concourse. And while the programs are critical to the kids, the events will offer very little program, in favor of strolling dinners, golfing, dancing, and race car driving!
This anniversary party is a landmark that Dad would have loved to attend. But I hope that you’ll attend instead, both to honor his memory, and to help so many more kids in our community who said goodbye to their moms and dads far too soon.
Our invitation is attached , so you can register for one or both days by calling us at 888-987-KIDS, visiting us at forthekidsfoundation.org, or by just clicking this link.
See you at the party!
